Ideas for Cheap Honeymoons

Filed Under (Honeymoons) by Danielle on 07-21-2008

Ideas for Cheap HoneymoonsEverything is expensive these days, no doubt. Brides, if you’re planning a wedding right now then you really understand the crunch. Most brides these days are facing the economy crunch along with everyone else, but now it seems that they’re getting less wedding for their buck than the brides just a year or two ago. And lets face it, with rising bills and other financial woes brides are facing this year, finding ways to cut costs on weddings are so important. Not only ideas for saving money on planning a wedding, but also finding ways to have a great honeymoon while not feeling guilty or worried about your finance when you get back is important as well. So, if you’re struggling to plan your dream wedding with this depression in our economy, here are some great ideas for cheap honeymoons you can take and still have a blast.

Staying Nearby

You don’t need to fly to some exotic location to be able to have a great and memorable honeymoon.

Think of some nearby larger cities that you can visit, and still have plenty to do on your trip. For example, I live in Texas, and some of the larger cities around me are Dallas, Houston, Austin and San Antonio. Taking a short drive to one of these locations would be a little over a full tank of gas, and each of these cities have excellent activities to do and sights to see.

Shortening Your Stay

Another secret to some ideas for cheap honeymoons is simply to shorten your stay by a day or two wherever you’re going.  Maybe instead of having a 5 night 6 day honeymoon, instead shorten it a little bit to 3 or even 4 nights to help save on some costs as well. Hotel rooms can be expensive, especially if you choose a nicer hotel for your honeymoon suite (and you should, it’s your honeymoon!), so you’ll find that by cutting down on the number of nights, you could save hundreds of dollars there.

Planning Your Activities

No matter how many nights you stay on your honeymoon, there is definitely one factor to consider for planning cheap honeymoons, and that is what kind of excursions you’re wanting to take. Are you wanting to spend the bulk of your honeymoon vacation in the hotel pool, or driving around taking in the sights? Are you wanting to do some fun (and potentially expensive) excursions such as taking in an art museum, theme park or a Broadway show? You should definitely plan some great and memorable activities that you can enjoy and help to make your honeymoon even more memorable, just be sure to have them planned on and budgeted for.

There are lots of little things that you can do to find or to create your own ideas and plans for cheap honeymoons. Just remember that no matter what kind of budget you’re on, you still need to splurge a little bit and make sure that you both have an excellent time. Whether that is planning a romantic dinner for two at an upscale restaurant for one night, or taking in a show, make sure that your honeymoon is exciting and full of new love.
