If you’re watching your budget pretty closely, then finding some excellent honeymoon deals can be crucial between having a great honeymoon and having to stay home. So what is a couple to do when they’re planning their honeymoon vacation, and how do you even find any of the great honeymoon deals out there? I’ve been there before, trust me. Planning a wedding and a honeymoon at the same time can get a little overwhelming, there are so many details to remember and decisions to make. So, here are some little helpful tips you can use to find some great honeymoon deals for your perfect honeymoon.

Looking for the Off-Season

When my husband and I got married, our wedding was taking place between the popular seasons for Mexico. We were between the chilly days of winter where couples and families from Europe and Canada try to beat the cold for a while in tropical Mexico. But we were also a little to early for those wild and crazy spring breakers as well. Since there wasn’t as much demand for the resort during these off seasons, they were more willing to offer their rates at a lower price to draw people into their resort.

Not only that, but they’ve got to compete with probably a dozen or more resorts in their area who are doing the same thing. That means great news for you. So do a little research and try and find some areas that can be an off season for the resort, and great savings for you.

Plan Early - Consider the Insurance

When say consider the insurance, I don’t mean vacation insurance that will protect against unforeseen disasters, such as loss of luggage or something like that. I’m talking about the kind of honeymoon insurance that allows you to capture any discounts or savings your hotel posts, even after you’ve already paid for your honeymoon. My husband and shopped early for our honeymoon, and purchased our tickets early so that we knew we’d have the honeymoon we wanted. At purchase, we were given the option of buying this small insurance policy that stated that if the rates on the vacation we were purchasing decreased, and we found it, we could write in and they would credit the difference back to us. Not too shabby huh? Especially as the off season neared, resorts lowered their rates in hopes of luring people in, and my husband and I were able to save almost a thousand dollars off of what we had purchased the tickets for. So if you can do it, consider it.

Last Minute Planning

Many people swear by this method of finding honeymoon deals, but it makes me plain nervous. Many people suggest that couples wait until the last minute to plan and purchase their honeymoon packages with any of the special deals that come available. So basically, signing up with some of the great online travel agencies such as Worry Free Vacations or Apple Vacations for notifications of great deals at the last minute (for those couples who are feeling a bit spontaneous). This concept makes me nervous for several reasons. First of all, you can only take what is offered, for the nights that it is being offered, which could be anywhere from 3 nights to 7 nights and could be too early or late to make it for after your wedding. Also, you run the risk of not having any available deals when your wedding approaches.
